canibus500Questo ragazzo è proprio cattivo! Date un’occhiata a una sua foto: ha una faccia da bravo ragazzo, ma possiede una voce che lo fa sembrare un peso massimo del microfono. Nei suoi testi è sempre incazzato con tutto e con tutti, è così truce che afferma di poter bere senza problemi il veleno di un cobra… Il dato impressionante è che pur essendo molto giovane, Canibus ha una grandissima padronanza della metrica: il suo Rap è infatti sempre molto preciso e le sue rime puntuali, mai scontate. Prendete “Patriots”: la base a disposizione è favolosa e l’mc la sfrutta al massimo con delle rime prodigiose che lo trasformano nel più duro dei Navy Seal. Oppure basta ascoltare “Rip Rock”, un beat Crossover con una chitarra acidissima, sulla quale Canibus sfodera tutte le sue armi. A chi ha un orecchio fino, consiglio poi di sentire attentamente “What’s Going On”, dove c’è un omaggio alle voci di Havoc e di Biggie, o “How We Roll”, che campiona invece una famosa barra del grandissimo Rakim.

Mi verrebbe spontaneo citare tutta la tracklist di “Can-I-Bus”, prodotto egregiamente da Wyclef Jean, Jerry Wonder, Salaam Remi, L.G. e Dj Clark Kent. Interessanti, continuando l’elenco, gli scratch in “Nigganometry”, dove L.G. ha pensato di campionare la parola nigga da “Sesame Street”. Canibus è un guerriero e quando c’è una sfida non si tira certo indietro: se in “4-3-2-1” LL Cool J dice che lui è un bluff, il giovane combattente replica senza paura con “Second Round K.O.”. Più aggressivo di un pugile (ecco appunto l’introduzione di Mike Tyson), per mandare al tappeto l’avversario non usa i pugni ma una lingua tagliente; la base di Wyclef sembra uscire direttamente da una cripta scura e Canibus offre l’ennesima lezione di rime. Impressionante come riesca a mescolare le parole a suo piacimento – quest’uomo mangia realmente mc’s a colazione, pranzo e cena; prendete ad esempio questi quattro versi e notate gli accostamenti: <<with many lines, more lines than a million pair of Adidas/more lines than the bible quoted from Jesus/more lines than a African herd of zebras/niggaz just ain’t fuckin wit the cannabis seteva>>.

Consigliato. Ma attenti ai ganci e ai diretti…
