Sono passati due anni da "Enter The Wu-Tang", nel frattempo i due lavori solisti di Meth e ODB hanno consolidato le basi di quello che ben presto diventerà un impero. E' il 1995, l'anno della svolta, i tempi sono maturi per passare al secondo stadio dell'evoluzione del Clan: è il momento di Shallah Raekwon a.k.a. The Chef. Accompagnato dall'inseparabile Ghost Face Killer (presente in quasi tutte le tracce del disco) e da tutti gli altri membri del Clan escluso Ol' Dirty Bastard, The Chef presenta al pubblico colui che diventerà il decimo membro del Clan, un certo Cappachino. In "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx..." niente è più come prima: cambiano le atmosfere, cambiano i beat e cambiano perfino i membri del Clan. Ma andiamo con ordine. Sono del tutto assenti le atmosfere in stile Shaolin, fatta eccezione per "Guillotine (Swordz)", assaggio-preludio a quello che sarà lo stile di "Liquid Swords" di GZA. Ciò è dovuto sicuramente al lavoro di RZA, che dà vita a beat ipnotici e coinvolgenti, sorretti da campioni molto più ricercati ed elaborati che nei suoi lavori precedenti (prendete ad esempio gemme come "Ice Water", "Glaciers Of Ice", "Ice Cream", "Wu-Gambinos"). Il Wu-Tang Clan si trasforma in un clan di mafiosi, dove ognuno ha una nuova identità. Così il gemello di Raekwon, Ghost Face, diventa Tony Starks, Method Man diventa Johnny Blaze, RZA diventa Bobby Steels, Master Killa diventa Noodles, Golden Arms (a.k.a. U-God) diventa Lucky Hands e Inspectah Deck diventa Rollie Fingers. Tutti nomi che rimarranno appiccicati ai membri del Clan per sempre e che saranno determinanti nella caratterizzazione dei personaggi di "Taste The Pain". Insomma, un disco che ha segnato il sentiero dell'evoluzione Wu-Tang e che rappresenta un tassello indispensabile di una stupenda saga che speriamo non finisca mai.
