Necro and Ill Bill – Street Villains Vol. 2

Sono passati circa due anni e i fratelli pazzi Necro e Ill Bill sono pronti a tornare per strada con “Street Villains Vol. 2”. La formula non cambia rispetto al primo volume: tanti freestyle, gli affiliati, strumentali rubacchiate qua e là, dissing a go-go. Partendo da quest’ultimo aspetto, Necro si accanisce pesantemente contro Michael Jackson, citandolo apertamente nella stupenda “Murder Ya Life (Remix)” e in “Entertainment Tonight”, ma soprattutto in “Billie Jean 2005”, dove proprio non glie ne risparmia una: un attacco pazzesco, stilisticamente ineccepibile perché scarica una camionata di merda con riferimento a un argomento attualissimo e delicato.

Altro aspetto importante del progetto è la presentazione ufficiale di due nuovi gruppi (diciamo così…): i Circle Of Tyrants, che si abbinano bene alle due basi tenebrose di RZA (“Box In Hand” e “Assassination Day”) e i Secret Society, che addirittura rappano su una produzione di Pete Rock (“The World Is Yours” da “Illmatic”). Aspettiamo con fiducia gli album di queste due formazioni, previsti entro l’anno. La parte più mainstream, perché Necro pesca anche da lì, è data invece dalla presenza di due basi tratte dal primo disco di The Game, più una dei Neptunes: francamente non collimano molto col resto della tracklist.

Vengono invece recuperate un po’ di perle: Mobb Deep e Alchemist (“Adrenaline”, “Whats Poppin'”, “Louder”, “Thug Muzik” e soprattutto “Cobra”), Beatnuts, come già detto RZA e addirittura un omaggio a Biggie. Materiale che ispira a dovere Necro e Bill, carichi come sempre. Per quel che riguarda i testi, sorvoliamo: non c’è molto da aggiungere e lo sapete già; d’altronde un tape di questo tipo punta tutto sullo stile, sulla fotta e sulle punchline. Quindi: per i fan? Imprescindibile; per tutti gli altri? Godibile, però non vi cambierà la giornata.
